Multitude of Voyces is supportive of the work being carried out by other organisations which are taking steps to encourage, support, commission and perform, liturgical works by women composers, and which provide and promote opportunities for women to be fully involved at amateur and professional level in the musical life of our churches and cathedrals.

We are delighted to be building up strong links with several national organisations, and to have the support of such esteemed composers and performers as

  • Judith Weir (Master of the Queen’s Music)
  • Joanna Forbes L’Estrange
  • Sarah MacDonald (Ely Cathedral and Selwyn College, Cambridge)
  • Anna Lapwood (Pembroke College, Cambridge)

We are also very grateful for the continued support of musician such as

  • Peter Kirk
  • Daniel Cooke (Durham Cathedral)
  • Henry Websdale (King’s College, Cambridge)
  • George Richford (Romsey Abbey)

and many others who would like to see better representation of women within the creative elements of the Liturgy and who work actively towards that aim.

We are planning an accessibly-priced volume of works spanning eight centuries of liturgical music by women composers, including works which have not previously been published, and including a number of young upcoming women composers. We intend to provide a balanced volume of works suitable for a variety of occasions within the Church year which will complement and enhance existing excellent resources in current use in our parishes and cathedrals.

The volume will be suitable for experienced parish choirs, cathedral choirs, and concert choirs which include Sacred music within their programming.

We are keen to receive more submissions from composers identifying as female, which can be suitable for any of the services of the Anglican calendar, and can include works for SATB (including double choir), with or without accompaniment, upper-voices and/or lower-voices.

We are seeking major sponsorship for this volume and would be very delighted to hear from interested parties.
