Singers of all voice parts are invited to spend the afternoon studying the Devotional Psalms of Robert Allison, (published 1599) under the directorship of Colin Howard and with the accompaniment of lutenists from The Lute Society who will be led by internationally acclaimed lutenist Jacob Heringman. Singers will need to be confident at reading notation, but prior knowledge of church music or church services is not essential.
The workshop will take place at Farley All Saints Church, Church Lane, Farley, Wiltshire, SP5 1AH between 2-5pm on Sunday 24th June, and will culminate in a full Choral Evensong with congregational participation, in Farley All Saints Church at 6pm.
Canon Jeremy Davies (formerly Precentor of Salisbury Cathedral) will lead the service, and the workshop choir will be joined by four local professional singers expert in Early Music, who will help to support the workshop singers and who will also perform an anthem within the service, accompanied by Jacob Heringman.
NB: under 18s are very welcome to attend this workshop but must be accompanied throughout by a responsible adult.
The event will be a awareness-raiser and fundraiser for Multitude of Voyces' upcoming 'Music and Makaton' project with children and young adults from Exeter House Special School, Salisbury.
There is no charge for participating in the workshop, but singers are invited to make a donation within their own means, to Multitude of Voyces (via Paypal) to help defray the professional musicians' fees and the costs of music printing and preparation and to contribute to the MoV 'Music and Makaton' project. A retiring collection will be shared between Farley All Saints Church and Multitude of Voyces 'Music and Makaton' project.
Lutenists interested in attending the workshop should contact Jacob Heringman through the Lute Society after 16.04.2018 copying their enquiry to firstname.lastname@example.org. (Separate fees are payable for the lute workshop, which will run from 12pm-7:30pm)
